How can I get out of a non-refundable American Airlines ticket without a fee?

I purchased through Orbitz for a wedding which I found out will be delayed, and AA wants $200 to reschedule plus a $30 fee to Orbitz. Does anyone know of any possible thing that could happen to wiave these fees? Do medical conditions that prohibit flying work on non-refundable tickets? Thank you so much for any information.|||The only thing I can think of at this moment is hope that the flight is sold-out so you can give up your seat and then make money off the airline. I don't know if this will work but if someone died and you had to attend their funeral, maybe the airline will waive the penalty.|||Good luck! AA is so strict. Someone's got to die usually. It might be even more if there is a fare difference when you do your date change.|||Quite frankly, you can't!!

The airline is really strict. I used to be a ticket agent with them. They will hit you up about $100 to cancel your flight. They will take $100 from your fare, and put the rest into a travel credit.

AA is the largest airilne in the free world, they won't think twice about charging you. Either way, they already have your money
