Information needed about duty fee at JFK?

Hi there,

I am about to fly to NY (JFK) and on my way back I was hoping to get some cigarettes at the duty free zone.

Could anyone advise how many cigarettes can be bought by person and what is the cost in dollars?

Do they sell a cartoon as a 10 pack or less?

I know that in UE you can have 200 cigarettes per person but have no idea about USA.

Appreciate your help.

Iza|||A carton is ten packs, a pack is 20 cigarettes.

Yes the United States is the same terms you can bring in 200 cigarettes. You can ---BUY--- unlimited duty free I believe but where you're taking them to has a limit... otherwise you must declare that you're bringing more and pay the duty on them. If you don't declare the excess and they find it, it's illegal.

A carton of cigarettes at the JFK airport right now is around $40 to $50|||If you are flying TO the USA, you won't be able to buy anything in the duty free shop when you arrive. You'll need to buy them in the other country, before you fly here. (I think that's almost universally true.)

Depending on the length of your stay, you'll generally be allowed to bring in 200 cigarettes per person.

When leaving the USA, you'll be able to buy from the duty free shop. The shop will generally need to see your ticket and passport, and they will bring your purchase to your departing flight's gate. There is no limit to how much you can buy, but of course, you're bound by the limits of the country you are going to.

Bonne voyage!
