A broker told me that a fee would be $2100 for an apartment and has now changed it to 2380. It may not seem like much, but it is more than I can afford. Is this legal? Did he need to disclose the fee upfront?|||Did you ask why? When we lived in NYC, granted it was many moons ago, the amount was based on the rent. Did the rent go up?
The fee should have been made clear in the beginning. If he didnt make sure you understood the fee and any other expenses, you should have spoken up because you are the one who gets screwed if it's wrong.|||They are suppose to give all fee's up front when they are working with apartments. If you have a problem make a formal complaint to the local real estate board.
